Featuring the story of Jeff Ford of Cress Spring Bakery and his approach to keeping food simple. Jeff has been a foundational leader in the local food movement in Southwest Wisconsin since the 90’s. His work as a brick oven baker has inspired many others around the region and his approach to baking has remained the same for several decades. Through regional grain sourcing, Jeff has had an impact beyond his quiet bakery in Blue Mounds, WI.

Our panelists come from several places in the grain supply chain and leadership of the grain movement and will speak to the the strengths and challenges facing bakers, farmers, and restaurants. They will discuss the the power of a regionalized grainshed for farmers, consumers, ecosystem health, and food security. History, current view of the landscape, and how southwest Wisconsin can continue to support a robust grainshed.
